Al-Quds Bard Fellowship Program
Abu Dis, Palestine

The Program
Living and working in the West Bank from August 15, 2021-June 15, 2022, Al-Quds Bard Fellows serve as full-time academic and program support to Al-Quds Bard College for Arts and Sciences (AQB) undergraduate and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs.

Structured as a multi-faceted fellowship year, the fellowship provides an opportunity for expected and recent BA and MAT graduates of Al-Quds Bard College for Arts and Sciences (Abu Dis) to gain hands-on experience with the first dual-degree liberal arts program between US and Palestinian institutions of higher education. AQB emphasizes student-centered learning, the development of independent inquiry, and the free exchange of ideas and AQB Fellows play an important role in facilitating such an environment on campus.

Who Can Apply?
AQB Fellowships are competitive and open to recent BA and MAT graduates of any major programs of study from Al-Quds Bard College (AQB), or another institution within the Bard College network (Bard, BCB, EHU, AUCA and Smolny College). The principal qualities AQB seeks in Fellows include maturity and social awareness, openness to other cultures, self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as a team, an interest in institution-building and taking initiative, and a strong sense of professionalism.

Fellowship Responsibilities
For detailed descriptions of responsibilities for the open positions at Al-Quds Bard College, please refer to the job description documents under Learning Content within this application.

Compensation
The AQB Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of US $1,000 for full-time appointments. Fellowships are eligible for renewal for an additional year subject to approval of AQB program leadership.

Please note: It is unclear at this time whether travel restrictions to Israel will be lifted during the academic year 2021/22. If restrictions are lifted for international travelers, then the AQB Fellowship provides shared housing in Bethlehem, one round-trip plane ticket, basic international travel insurance, and visa costs.
